Police have arrested four people, including two young women, in Teknaf, Cox’s Bazar, for smuggling yaba to the bride. At that time 20,000 yaba was recovered from them. They were arrested on Wednesday (July 7th) afternoon from the municipality of Islamabad.
The detainees are Nur Islam (40), Raju Ahmed (48), Kalpana Akhter (34) and Mahmuda Akhter Reshmi (22).
Officer-in-charge (OC) of Teknaf Sadar Police Station Hafizur Rahman confirmed the matter.
He said members of a trafficking ring were preparing to smuggle Yaba and were arrested on the basis of information. At that time 20,000 pieces of yaba were recovered from them.
The OC further said that the gang had been supplying yaba to various hotels in Dhaka for a long time under the guise of their family members and new wives. Sometimes the new wife would introduce herself as a tourist. Arrested Raju Ahmed, Kalpana Akhter and Mahmuda Akhter Reshmi’s house is in Dhaka. The case against them is under process.
